Powertech recently completed the 4-yearly maintenance shutdown scope on the High Voltage assets at one of QGC’s main upstream gas processing and compression facilities.
This consisted of the hook-up of multiple 200kVA generators, testing and maintaining a variety of equipment; transformers, harmonic filters, switchboards, circuit breakers, contactors and dozens of associated protection relays across 33 and 6.6 kV subsystems.
The testing uncovered issues with primary plant that could have only been rectified under shutdown conditions and these were quickly sourced, commissioned and reinstated without impact to the overall shutdown schedule.
Additional thanks to the Powertech field staff embedded in the HV operations team who safely and professionally performed the HV switching and isolations to allow the work to take place.
The Powertech team will now move onto maintenance and testing of the associated 132/33kV substation.
